Ancestral Vein
Ancestral Vein is a five-part monoprint series that examines inheritance as a living system—physical, emotional, and mythic. Each work traces how memory moves through the body like sap or blood, echoing the networks of root, river, and vein. Meyer’s use of acrylic monoprinting is central to the theme: every pull leaves a residual impression that becomes the groundwork for the next, mirroring the way generational memory accumulates, erodes, and reforms.
The series follows an arc from emergence to renewal—Seedling, Matriline, Divergence, Continuum, and Renewal. Its limited palette of red and blue grounds the work in elemental duality: blood and breath, earth and water, lineage and individuality. Across the sequence, branching motifs and textural imprints create a visual language where anatomy merges with landscape and heritage becomes movement.
Within Meyer’s broader practice, Ancestral Vein expands her ongoing investigations into embodiment, ritual, and the handmade mark as an index of presence. The series situates personal narrative within a wider ecological and ancestral continuum.
